Energetic, enthusiastic, and dynamic – these adjectives aptly capture the essence of Jessica Loo, the enigmatic Violinist from Penang, Malaysia. Jessica’s initiation into the realm of music commenced at the age of 13 when she began playing the drums in secondary school. During those formative years, she unearthed the thrill of playing, which later evolved into a profound passion. From 2001 to 2006, Jessica assumed the role of principal timpanist for the esteemed Penang State Symphonic Band (PESSBAND) and the Universal Philharmonic Orchestra (UPO) in Penang. Her prowess caught the attention of the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), where she served as principal timpanist from 2007 to 2010.
At the pinnacle of her career, Jessica embraced the violin as her secondary instrument at the age of 22. This pivotal year also marked her introduction to Mr. Brian Tan Wee Thean, the revered violinist and conductor of KLPAC. Mr. Brian not only initiated Jessica into the wonders of the violin but also mentored her under his guidance, enabling her to complete her studies in an impressive four years instead of the anticipated eight. In 2011, Jessica attained the Associate Recital Diploma examination (A.T.C.L.) from London Trinity College with Distinction, followed by the Licentiate Recital Diploma (L.T.C.L.) in 2017.
